We were delighted to be chosen by one of the UK’s leading consulting companies to stage their UK summer party and conference. Held at Center Parcs, Sherwood Forest over two days in early July, the theme for the event was ‘End of the World’, with a summer party held on the evening of day one and business conference during the second day.
This was a major event and the biggest challenge was developing the theme to cover what was a very large area with several discreet themed areas.
The whole of the Center Parcs conference centre was needed to accommodate the party, with the space transformed by floor to ceiling prints, radioactive barrels, a Routemaster bus and a plane crash! The guests, all of whom were in fancy dress, entered through a smoke filled ‘decontamination zone’ with actors dressed in radioactive suits and gas masks. A very enjoyable three course evening dinner followed, served on camouflaged tables decorated with dead flowers!
A large twin screen stage set provided the focal point for the entertainment which included jugglers, drummers and a fantastic live band.
After dinner two further themed areas were opened – Our re-creation of ‘Heaven’ included twinkling lights, champagne, fresh fruit and a range of relaxing massages. The atmosphere was a little different in ‘Hell’, which featured the infamous ‘gates’ and bright red illuminated bars and furniture!
For the following morning we reworked the space in to a theatre style conference space for 300 delegates. This session included keynotes from the firm’s partners as well as several themed pieces with sound effects and pyrotechnics.
