Carbon Week was Aston University’s ambitious project to bring climate change awareness and low-carbon design thinking to all its students in a thought-provoking, 5-day-long, annual event. The purpose of the week was to provide all students with the necessary landscape relating to climate change and low-carbon adaptation and mitigation, in order to inform and influence their professional careers. Our brief was to manage the whole technical production and content creation for this inaugural event.
The challenge was to design a technical solution which could cater for what was expected to be a large audience and deliver key messages in an engaging way, so important to the success of a new event.
The launch Event consisted of an Introduction Day at Genting Arena (NEC) for over 2000 people, it was a day of talks, debate, comedy and employer workshops. The line-up of speakers, each with a wealth of experience and knowledge of preparing for a low-carbon world, included:
Following several site meetings and the submission of a successful bid to provide support to Aston University for the event, Quadrant provided a full technical solution which included a 50ft wide edge blended projection screen which displayed all of the event content, presentations, animations, live camera relay and videos in full HD.
The projection and data system included the use of a Spyder video processing unit linked to digital data switchers which delivered a fully versatile and flexible display. Our latest LED lighting equipment enhanced the overall aesthetics of the set backdrop, arena and stage area with the use of up lighting and stage wash programmed to give several different lighting states. A full range line array PA system was also provided to cater for all microphone and audio sources.
To ensure the event was delivered to Quadrants constantly high standards, our team of highly skilled and professional technical crew were assigned to each aspect of the production, including cameramen , data operators, lighting technicians, sound engineers and show caller.
