Quadrant thrives within local communities and as a socially responsible company we will champion charitable projects that have a meaningful connection to our staff. Our latest charity partner, Kidney Research UK, is a very personal one to our owner and managing director, Andy Hogben.
In December January 2019 Andy’s son, Daniel, was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease which ended his dream of one day playing football professionally. His doctors have never been able to find out why he has this terrible condition but, following a living donor kidney transplant in May 2022 at the age of 18, Daniel has now returned to the football pitch, as a referee.
Daniel hopes his story will inspire other young people to see that, despite all the many challenges of this life changing diagnosis, transplants make a huge difference and you will adapt and find other ways of living life to the full.
You can read more about his and other inspirational stories on the Kidney Research UK website, or visit Daniel’s charity fundraising page for regular updates.
There are around 3.5 million people living with kidney disease in the UK, treatments can be gruelling and currently there is no cure. In the best case scenario Daniel’s transplant will last him 20-25 years, so further transplants will be needed in the future. Ongoing research is needed to keep improving the outcomes for dialysis and transplant patients and to understand more about the causes of kidney disease.
As a business we are encouraging our employees, suppliers and customers to join us in supporting Kidney Research UK to fund research projects that could make such a difference to the lives of so many.
