Brief
The annual Mortgage Advice Bureau event is always special, but 2021 was to be an extra special occasion, and not just because it was their first live event since the lockdowns of the covid pandemic. After many years in the Curve Theatre, Leicester, the event was moving to a new home, and added to that was the small matter of the businesses 21st anniversary to celebrate!
This years event had to genuinely raise the bar once again and be worthy of such a special occasion. The business was delighted to be moving onto the huge stage of the ICC Hall 1 in central Birmingham, and alongside the conference and exhibition there would be a party at the Royal Botanical Gardens.
Solution
So with a huge stage space to fill we designed a set with wide printed graphic backdrop, a floor graphic for the stage floor, and a total of five LED screens, the largest of which was 8m wide. The screens were controlled by a Barco E2 processor to allow mapping of a range of content across the various screen surfaces. Our client produced their own content, with us supporting with a range of animated pre-set builds, and further content development on the day.
A four camera portable production system was used to provide speaker images to the outer screens, and this included a roving camera for audience participation shots.
We created an inspiring opening session for the event culminating in event host, the always sensational Jez Rose, appearing from the centre of a huge birthday cake! The full day conference, and supplier exhibition running alongside, were a huge success with over 1,000 delegates in attendance.
For the evening attention switched across town to the Birmingham Botanical Gardens and the Halloween themed after event party. We dressed two areas, one was a band room with full lighting rig and live sound system, the second room featured live sound, lighting, and an LED DJ booth, home to the evenings special guest DJ Jo Whiley.
