StarACTs National Recognition Programme

With inclusivity at its heart, StarACTs is Network Rail’s national recognition event, celebrating colleagues for their effort in delivering an efficient and safe railway network. It brings together shortlisted entries from frontline workers along with local, route and regional teams from across the UK.

Client Brief

The brief called for a comprehensive event design and production service to support a large-scale awards program open to over 40,000 employees.

A key requirement for StarACTs was the delivery of an intuitive and efficient online system to manage the full award nomination and judging process.

The scope of work included full event design and end-to-end management, coordination of invitation and registration processes for shortlisted colleagues, technical production for the live event, venue branding, and the creation of engaging event content.

Our Solution

We developed a bespoke online platform to promote the StarACTs event and enable Network Rail colleagues to submit nominations. The system supported multiple rounds of judging, culminating in the selection of the final shortlist, who were then invited to attend the awards ceremony.

To streamline attendance, a tailored registration site was created. Our design team crafted animated, awards-themed video content, designed a digital awards programme, and produced delegate badges.

On the day, we delivered full on-site management including venue coordination, and oversight of delegates and speakers. Our video team captured powerful stories from shortlisted colleagues, leadership, and award judges throughout the event.

We transformed the venue into an immersive experience, incorporating full branded window vinyls, a “Hall of Fame” featuring previous winners, branded cubes, and a bespoke stage set.

Our technical production brought the celebration to life with dynamic backgrounds, animations, video content, and lighting effects that supported the awards’ theme and tone.

Accessibility was at the forefront of our planning, ensuring an inclusive experience for all. This included accessible venue and stage design, thoughtful branding placement, optimised lighting and audio, a hearing assistance system, live British Sign Language interpretation, and real-time captioning.
